Appearance: Your first thought when looking at Chouji would be "Wow. He's huge." He stands at about six feet in height, and weighs anywhere between 240-260 pounds. He's got a kind, chubby face accented with two spiral birthmarks on each cheek. Surrounding this face is a wild mane of brown hair that falls down to the middle of his back; kept out of his face only by his ninja headband.

Personality: Chouji is a pretty calm individual...so long as you don't call him 'fatty' which will bring out a rather nasty side in the young Akimichi. When presented with failure, he becomes disheartened easily and feels as if he is a disappointment. Though when greeted with success, he is filled with pride and a great boost in the self confidence he so greatly lacks due to his formative childhood years. He isn't so shy that he won't work in a group of people, but he isn't bold enough to take complete charge of a situation. All-in-all, Chouji is a good guy with a heart as big as his insatiable appetite.

Abilities/Strengths: Being a chunnin-level ninja, Chouji isn't the strongest ninja out there, but his strength is still higher than a lot of other's.

As with what is standard in the Akimichi clan, Chouji's main abilities come from his size and the manipulation of. They use jutsu known as "Baika no Jutsu" or "Expansion Jutsu". This jutsu allows the Akimichi's the ability to convert calories in to chakra which then increases the size of their bodies and clothes. The user of this technique can even become as large as a building should he choose, as well as only enlarge one part of the body to increase the effect of a physical attack.


Weaknesses: Physically, Chouji's greatest weakness is not his size, but rather his inability to perform long-range attacks. He is a close-range fighter and can do little to harm his opponent from any distance. Another weakness comes in the fact that he needs to eat almost constantly to replenish his chakra reserves.

Mentally, however, Chouji's greatest weakness could very well be his size. As a child growing up, he was often picked on and as a result of this he is incredibly self-conscious about his weight and has somewhat low self-esteem. When someone refers to him as "fat" he will not let that person go without a fight.

Notable Possessions:
Houren-gan: Three pills used by those in the Akimichi clan, it is known throughout their world as a means of finishing any battle that it is used in. They increase the power of the user exponentially, but at a great cost. If the final of the three pills is taken, then it can often result in great harm and sometimes even death to the user.

Various Ninja Weapons: Including three kunai and four shuriken.

History: Born on May 1st in to the Akimichi clan, Chouji was never destined for any sort of greatness. As a child, Chouji was often found playing alone. Other children often didn't allow him to play with him, calling him fat and useless. One day, however, when trying to join in on a game of ninjas the kids were unusually cruel to him. He went home disheartened and spoke with his father who told him that one day someone would see how kind he was. As if on que, Nara Shikamaru, the only kid who had attempted to get Chouji in to the game, approached him, which began Chouji's first real friendship.

Over the next few years, Chouji entered school to train to become a real ninja. He didn't do exceptionally well, but he didn't perform poorly either. He managed to, with a bit of a struggle, graduate and become a gennin - the lowest rank of ninjas. He was then placed on a team with his long-time best friend Shikamaru and a girl named Ino under the leadership of Asuma. The team worked well together, and trained hard as they went on a few low-rank missions.

Finally, a short while after becoming a gennin, the chunnin - next ninja rank - exams were beginning. Chouji's team did fine on the first exam, and struggled a bit on the second, but their team work proved to be strong in the end and they advanced on. In the end, Shikamaru was the only one who was eligible to compete in the 3rd exam.

During this final part of the exam, there was an attack, and one of the other examinees, Uchiha Sasuke, went after ninjas from the Hidden Sound Village, seeking power. Chouji was asked by Shikamaru to accompany him on a mission to get Sasuke back and bring him home. Never being able to say no to his friend, Chouji went with him and the others to get Sasuke back.

Chouji took on the first of the Sound Four on his own, telling the others to go on without him. He struggled with the fight, but by using the Houren-gan he was able to eventually win. But the pills were dangerous and left him on the brink of death. Luckily enough, he was found in time and survived. In the end, the team failed to bring back Sasuke.

Over the next few years of his life, Chouji spent his time with the other members of his clan, training hard and perfecting their special techniques. He entered in to another Chunnin exam and completed it, finally joining the rest of his team in the chunnin ranks.

He would spend most of his days then on missions with his other team mate, Ino, while Shikamaru was busy with being an exam proctor. Things were generally normal for him until the day when the three went off together to fight an enemy named Madara. The fight was difficult and grueling, and just when Chouji was sure he was making progress, pain tore through his body, and he lost consciousness, only to reawaken in a compound called 'Econtra'.
